Twenty countries, and the spread runs wider than most Asia plans. It reaches from Japan and South Korea through Southeast Asia to Australia and New Zealand, then adds India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and stretches west into Israel, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The full list is Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau are three separate entries with three separate host networks. Only seven of the twenty sit in Southeast Asia, so Laos, Myanmar and Brunei fall outside.

Now the gap that catches people out. Taiwan is not covered. Most rival Asia plans do include it, so a Tokyo to Taipei hop that works on someone else's eSIM will not work on this one. Also absent are Nepal, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Mongolia, Fiji, the UAE and Qatar. The subcontinent is the reverse case. India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka get left out of Asia wide plans all the time, and all three are on this one.

Read your route as a list of the countries you actually sleep in, check each against the twenty, and if they all appear then one eSIM carries the whole trip, with every border crossing handled as an automatic handover to the next host network.

Routes that run end to end on one plan: Tokyo to Seoul to Hong Kong, Bangkok to Singapore to Bali, Singapore across to Sydney and Auckland, Delhi to Colombo. Routes that break: anything with Taipei in it, the overland run from Thailand into Laos, a Nepal trek bolted onto an India trip, and island hopping that touches the Maldives. One missing country does not spoil the plan, it just means that leg needs its own.

One detail decides whether you land connected. The eSIM wakes on first contact with a listed network, so if your trip opens somewhere that is not on the list, you arrive with nothing and the profile sits idle until you cross into covered ground. Plan the first night, not the trip average.

Entry is $5.99 and the best rate across the eighteen plans is $1.95 per GB, which means the cheapest way in costs roughly three times as much per gigabyte as the best value plan sitting on the same page.

The discount comes from volume, not from time. Adding days to a plan adds cost. Adding gigabytes lowers what each one costs you. So buying a small plan with a long validity means paying for calendar rather than data, and it is the single most common mistake made on this page. Work out your gigabytes first, then pick the shortest validity that still covers your dates.

It is also fair to say $5.99 is a high entry point next to our other regional plans. Twenty countries needs twenty wholesale agreements, and that shows up in the floor price. If you are a light user on a short trip, that floor is the number to weigh, not the headline count.

Because you connect as a visitor on a foreign network, the identity checks and device rules that apply to local SIM buyers never reach you. In India, Indonesia, mainland China and Saudi Arabia, that difference is the entire reason to buy before you fly.

India is the clearest case. Every SIM and eSIM activated inside India goes through a KYC check set by the telecom regulator. Tourists need a passport, a valid visa and an Indian address, usually the hotel booking, and activation is not instant. Reports commonly run from a couple of hours to a full day, so a late night landing in Delhi on a local SIM means no data until morning. Local networks there only serve devices whose IMEI is registered, and tourist registrations have been tightened to short renewable windows. Inbound roamers on a foreign connection sit outside that system entirely.

Mainland China and Saudi Arabia are where roaming changes what your apps can do. In China your data leaves through the plan's home network rather than a local one, so the app blocks that apply to Chinese connections generally do not bite, and because Hong Kong and Macau are separate entries here, crossing from Shenzhen into Kowloon is a handover rather than a purchase. In Saudi Arabia, WhatsApp and FaceTime calling has been restricted for years with no official lifting announced, and travellers routinely report those calls connecting over a roaming eSIM because the traffic exits through an international gateway. Neither of those is a guarantee. Both are how roaming behaves right now, and both could change.

No. There is no unlimited plan on this Asia Pacific eSIM. Not a daily allowance, not a fair use unlimited, nothing at all. All eighteen plans are fixed buckets of data, and any page telling you this plan carries unlimited is describing a different product.

That is a real limitation, so here is the honest trade. Fixed data lets you price a trip exactly, and there is no throttling clause buried in the terms. The big brands selling unlimited across Asia usually attach a full speed daily allowance and slow you once you pass it, which is a different promise from the word on the tin. Neither model is dishonest. They just fail in different ways.

If you genuinely need heavy daily data, do not force this plan to do it. Our single country pages for the larger destinations carry different plan shapes, including daily allowance options. Buy the country plan for wherever you will be heaviest, and let a small regional plan cover the travel days around it.

Install the eSIM at home while you still have a working internet connection, then leave the line switched off until you land, because installation needs internet and an arrivals hall is precisely where you will not have any.

Three settings decide whether it works on arrival. Data roaming has to be ON for the eSIM line, which feels wrong and is correct, because roaming is exactly what you are doing. Data roaming should be OFF on your home line so it cannot quietly bill you. And set mobile data to the eSIM line while leaving calls and messages on your own number.

One more habit worth building. Save the QR code somewhere outside your email, because fetching it later needs the data you do not have yet. Then rename or check the eSIM label in your settings before you sleep, so you are not squinting at two unnamed lines in the back of a taxi at midnight.

Three kinds of trip should not buy this plan, and we would rather say so now than refund you later. First, if you are visiting one country, buy that country's plan. A single country eSIM beats a regional one on price per gigabyte almost every time, and this plan only starts earning its keep from the second border onward. Second, if your loop is Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore, our Southeast Asia plan covers that route and starts at a lower entry price, so the other thirteen countries are coverage you are paying for and never using. Third, if Taiwan appears anywhere on your route, this is not your plan, and no amount of data fixes a country that is not on the list. There is a fourth case worth naming. If you are settling in one place for a month or more in Vietnam, Indonesia or Thailand, a local prepaid SIM bought in town rather than at the airport counter will beat any travel product on sheer volume. What you pay instead is the errand: a legitimate shop, your passport, a queue, and the whole thing again in the next country. One border makes that errand worth doing. Six borders do not.
