Step-by-Step Guide

How eSIM Works

Get connected in minutes, no physical SIM card needed. Follow these simple steps to stay online anywhere in the world.

01

Check eSIM Compatibility

Open your phone's dial pad and type *#06#. If you see a serial number starting with "EID", your phone supports eSIM and you are good to go.

Most phones from 2019 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XR/XS and newer. Check compatible devices

02

Find Your Destination

Head to our destinations page and search for the country you are traveling to. We cover 189+ countries worldwide with reliable local networks.

Browse Destinations
03

Select Your eSIM Package

Choose the data plan that suits your needs, from 1GB for a quick trip to unlimited data for extended stays. Compare plans by data, validity, and price.

04

Pay & Receive Your QR Code

Complete your purchase securely. You will instantly receive your eSIM QR code via email and it will also appear in your My eSIMs dashboard.

05

Install Your eSIM Before Traveling

Scan the QR code from your phone's Settings to install the eSIM. Important: you need an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to activate your eSIM.

Install your eSIM at home before you travel so you are ready when you land.

Land & Enable Roaming

When you arrive at your destination country, go to your phone settings and enable Data Roaming for your eSIM line. You will be connected instantly.

What you need before you start

Three things, and most travelers already have all of them. There is no shop to visit and nothing to post to you.

A phone that takes an eSIM

Dial *#06# and look for an EID number. It also has to be carrier unlocked, which is the part people miss most often.

Wi-Fi when you install

Installing the profile needs a working connection. Do it at home the night before rather than standing in an arrivals hall with no signal.

An email address you can open

Your QR code arrives by email within a minute or two of paying, and it stays in your My eSIMs dashboard as a backup.

How long the whole thing takes

Buying and installing takes about five minutes in total. The only step with any real waiting in it is the last one, and that happens after you land.

Step Typical time
Checking your phone is compatibleUnder a minute
Picking a destination and a plan2 to 3 minutes
Paying and getting the QR codeInstant, by email
Scanning the code and installingAbout a minute
Connecting after you landUsually under 2 minutes

If it does not connect straight away

Almost every failed connection comes down to one of three things: data roaming is still switched off for the eSIM line, the eSIM is installed but not selected as the line carrying mobile data, or the phone is still locked to its original carrier. Turning the phone off and on again after you land clears a surprising number of cases too, because it forces a fresh search for a local network.

If none of that helps, our guide on what to do when an eSIM will not connect walks through the settings screen by screen, and why an eSIM stops working mid trip covers the ones that fail after a few days rather than on day one.

Plans are tied to the country you bought them for, so crossing a border is a common cause of a sudden loss of service. If your route covers more than one country, a regional plan such as Europe or a global eSIM will follow you across, and popular single stops like Turkey, Japan and Brazil each have their own plan page.

Pro Tip: Top Up Anytime

Running low on data? No worries! You can easily top up your eSIM directly from your My eSIMs dashboard, no need to buy a new eSIM. Top-up packages are available at discounted rates.
