Around busy spots like the Tel Aviv beach promenade, the Jaffa old port, the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem, and the malls in Haifa, you should see top speeds. Speed can dip a little in crowded places at peak times, like a packed market on a Friday, but it stays usable. For city based trips, even our smaller plans feel quick.

Israel is small, but parts of it are open desert and rocky hills, and that is where coverage thins out. At the Dead Sea resorts near Ein Bokek you will usually get 4G, but do not expect full 5G. The cliffs and low ground slow things down.

In the Negev desert, coverage is good along the main roads like Route 40 and Route 90, and at tourist sites such as Mitzpe Ramon and Ein Gedi. Once you drive far off the paved roads into empty desert, the signal can drop to almost nothing. The Judean hills around the Dead Sea have the same issue.

Simple fix. Before you head into the desert or down to the Dead Sea, save your maps for offline use and download anything you need to read. Send your messages while you still have a strong city signal. Once you are back near a town or main road, your eSIM reconnects on its own.

Set up the eSIM at home on your normal WiFi, a day or two before your flight. After you buy, you get a QR code by email. On an iPhone open Settings, then Cellular, then Add eSIM, and scan the code. On most Android phones open Settings, then Network, then add a SIM or eSIM, and scan it. The plan installs but does not start using data yet.

When you land at Ben Gurion Airport, turn on the new line and switch on data roaming for it. That setting is what lets the eSIM use the Israeli networks, and it does not cost extra with our plan.
