For every country with at least one active fixed data plan, we divide each plan's price by its data allowance and keep the lowest result. A 20 GB plan at $9.60 scores $0.48 per GB even if that country's 1 GB plan costs more. The figure is a floor: the best value a traveller can actually buy, not an average.
Unlimited plans, because dividing a price by unlimited data gives a meaningless number. Regional and global multi country plans, because the index measures single country prices. Everything else is live retail pricing on this site, in US dollars, including our margin, refreshed automatically when the catalogue reprices. Nothing here is typed in by hand.
This is one seller's catalogue, not a survey of the whole market: it measures what a traveller pays for a prepaid travel eSIM, not what a local resident pays on a domestic contract. Coverage follows our supply, so a missing country is one we do not currently sell. Prices move, and the date above is the moment the page last recalculated.

United Kingdom (UK), at $0.18 per GB. It is the lowest of all 197 countries in the index and roughly 10 times cheaper than the global median of $1.80.
French Polynesia, at $14.05 per GB, about 78 times the price of the same gigabyte in United Kingdom (UK).
Every fixed data plan for a country is divided by its allowance, and the lowest result becomes that country's score. It is a floor price, not an average, so it reflects the best deal actually on sale.
Roaming bills you at your home operator's out of country rate. A travel eSIM buys wholesale data on a local network instead, which is why the median country in this index sits at $1.80 per GB rather than the tens of dollars roaming can cost.
