eSIM for Czech Republic

Maps, messaging, browsing, and checking email use very little. If that is mostly what you do, a light plan is plenty. For a weekend in Prague, the 3 GB for 15 days plan at $2.10 is a comfortable fit.

If you post a lot of photos and videos to social media, or you watch clips on the train to Brno, you will burn through data faster. For a one or two week trip with heavier use, the 5 GB for 30 days plan at $3.33 or the 10 GB for 30 days plan at $5.99 makes more sense. Just arriving and need a quick fix while you find your hotel WiFi? The 1 GB for 1 days plan at $1.29 is the cheapest way in.

Do this part at home before your trip, while you still have your normal WiFi. It takes about five minutes.

Pick your plan and pay. You will get a QR code by email and inside your account. On your phone, open Settings, find the mobile or cellular menu, and choose Add eSIM or Set Up Cellular. Point your camera at the QR code and let it download.

That is the install done. The plan is now sitting on your phone, ready. Installing it early does not start the clock or use any data. It just gets the hard part out of the way.

Once you arrive, you flip two switches. First, turn on the Czech eSIM line in your settings and choose it for mobile data. Second, switch on Data Roaming for that line.

In the cities you will rarely think about coverage. Prague, Brno, Ostrava, and Plzen all have fast, reliable service on O2 and Vodafone, including 5G in many areas.

Tourist spots outside the cities are well covered too. You can navigate the lanes of Cesky Krumlov, share photos from Bohemian Switzerland viewpoints, and stay online in Kutna Hora without trouble.

Where signal can dip is deep in the forests and gorges of national parks, or on some rural back roads in the Bohemian Forest. For those days, download your offline maps in advance so you are never stuck.

You could buy a local SIM card after landing. But that means finding a shop, showing your passport, and in the Czech Republic the process for turning a SIM into an eSIM can take up to a day. With MegaEsim you skip all of that.
