Acceptable Use Policy

Use the connection like a traveller would. That is genuinely the whole policy.

Last Updated: August 24, 2026

What This Policy Is For#

This policy sets out what you may and may not do with a MegaEsim connection. It forms part of our Terms of Service. The short version: use the connection like a normal traveller would, do not break the law of the country you are in, and do not resell it. Almost nobody ever runs into this policy.

Normal Use, All Fine#

You do not need permission for any of this: • Browsing, maps, messaging, email, social media, banking apps and video calls. • Streaming music and video, within your plan allowance. • Personal hotspot and tethering to your own laptop, tablet or a travel companion's phone. We allow this on every plan and we do not charge extra for it. • Using a VPN, where the country you are in permits it. • Buying several eSIMs for your family or your travel group.

What Is Not Allowed#

Fraud and payment abuse • Using stolen or unauthorised payment details. • Creating multiple accounts to abuse promotional codes, referral bonuses or free credit. • Raising a chargeback on a plan that was delivered and used, instead of contacting us. Commercial resale • Reselling, redistributing or sublicensing the connection to third parties as a business, without our written permission. Sharing your hotspot with the people you are travelling with is fine. Running a paid WiFi service off it is not. Network abuse • Continuous automated traffic that behaves like a server rather than a travelling person, for example permanent bulk downloading, running public services, or crypto mining rigs. • Sending bulk unsolicited messages, spam, or operating open proxies and relays. • Port scanning, penetration testing, denial of service traffic, or interfering with the network or other users. Illegal content and activity • Anything unlawful in the country you are connecting from, including child sexual abuse material, distributing malware, and infringing copyright at scale. Our systems • Attempting to access accounts, orders or data that are not yours. • Automated scraping of megaesim.com without written permission. • Reverse engineering the app or attempting to extract eSIM profiles for reuse.

Local Law Comes First#

You are responsible for obeying the law where you are physically located, and that law can be very different from the law at home. • Several countries restrict or ban VoIP calling and VPN use, including the United Arab Emirates. What is ordinary at home can be an offence elsewhere. • Some countries require SIM users to register their identity. • Local operators and authorities may monitor, filter or restrict traffic under their own law. We cannot exempt you from that and we will not pretend otherwise. If in doubt, check before you travel. We will not be able to help if a local authority takes action against you.

What Happens If You Breach This Policy#

We would much rather email you than switch anything off, and for anything accidental that is what we do. For genuine and serious breaches we may, in proportion to what happened: • Ask you to stop, with a deadline. • Suspend the affected eSIM or your account while we look into it. • Terminate the plan without refund, where the breach is deliberate or repeated. • Report the matter to the network operator or the authorities, where the law requires it. If we suspend something and it turns out we were wrong, we restore it and extend your plan by the time you lost. If you think we have got it wrong, reply to us and a second person reviews it.

Reporting Abuse#

If you believe someone is misusing a MegaEsim connection, tell us at support@megaesim.com with as much detail as you can, including IP addresses and timestamps if you have them. We investigate every report and reply to the person who sent it.

Questions about this page?

A person reads every email. We reply within 24 hours, and we will explain anything here in plain language if it is not clear.
