If you want more room, 3 GB for 15 days costs $7.48, and 3 GB for 30 days costs $8.12. The bigger jump is 5 GB for 30 days at $11.20, or 10 GB for 30 days at $20.44 for heavy users. All of these connect to Claro, the local network with the widest reach across the country.

There are also short one day options if you only need data for a single day, like 1 GB for 1 day at $7.84. These cost more per gigabyte, so they only make sense for a layover or one busy day out.

Most travelers overbuy. If you spend your days on the beach in Bavaro and only use your phone for WhatsApp, Google Maps, and a few photos to Instagram, 1 GB to 3 GB covers a full week with ease.

A simple rule. Light user on a short trip, pick 1 GB or 3 GB. Medium user who posts daily, pick 3 GB to 5 GB. Heavy user who streams and works remotely, pick 10 GB.

Look at the days, not just the data. A 7 day trip to Santo Domingo fits the 1 GB for 7 days plan at $2.52 if you are careful, or the 3 GB for 15 days plan at $6.72 if you want a buffer.

Staying two weeks or longer in places like Puerto Plata, Cabarete, or Las Terrenas? The 30 day plans give you the best value because you are not forced to buy a second eSIM halfway through. The 3 GB for 30 days plan at $7.14 is a strong middle pick for a relaxed two week stay.

Install it at home before you fly, while you still have wifi. You will get a QR code by email after you buy. On an iPhone go to Settings, then Mobile Data, then Add eSIM, and scan the code. On Android open Settings, then Connections or Network, then SIM manager, and add the eSIM.

Do not let it turn on until you arrive. Most plans start counting your days from first use in the country, so install early but switch on data roaming for the new line only after you land in the Dominican Republic.
