Seychelles travel data eSIM

What Is a Seychelles eSIM?

A Seychelles eSIM is a digital data plan that gives your phone mobile internet across Seychelles without a physical SIM card. You buy a plan, scan a QR code, and you are online. No plastic SIM, no airport queues.

Your home SIM stays in your phone, so you keep your normal number for calls and texts while the eSIM handles data. Cheaper than roaming, faster than finding a SIM shop when you land.

Getting connected

From checkout to signal in three steps

Buying and installing takes about five minutes. The only waiting happens after you land.

Buy before you fly Choose your plan and the QR code arrives by email within a minute or two. It also sits in your account as a backup.
Install while you have Wi-Fi Scan the code from your phone settings. Do this at home the night before rather than in an arrivals hall with no signal.
Land, then switch on data roaming Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line when you arrive. Your plan activates on a local network and the clock starts then, not before.

Using a Travel eSIM Across the Seychelles Islands: A Place by Place Guide

The Seychelles is made up of three main islands you will likely move between, plus dozens of smaller ones. A MegaEsim travel eSIM runs on the Airtel network here, which is the same signal most hotels and resorts rely on. This guide walks you island by island so you know what to expect before you go, and plans start at $4.54.

01 Landing at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé

Almost every visitor flies into Seychelles International Airport, just south of Victoria on Mahé. This area has some of the strongest Airtel signal on the islands, so your eSIM connects within minutes of landing. There is no need to queue at a kiosk or hunt for a counter.

Set up your eSIM before you fly. Install it at home while you have good wifi, then leave it switched off until you land. The moment your plane touches down, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and you are online while you wait for bags. That makes it easy to book a taxi or message your hotel right away.

02 Victoria and Eden Island: the best connected corner

Victoria is the smallest capital city in the world, and it has the most complete coverage in the country. Around the market, the clock tower, and the main jetty, Airtel 4G and 5G are fast and steady. Eden Island, the marina development just across the bridge, is just as solid.

This is the spot for anything data heavy. If you need to upload photos, join a video call, or download maps for the rest of your trip, do it here. People working remotely from Seychelles often base themselves around Eden Island for this reason, using the eSIM as a backup when resort wifi gets slow.

03 Beau Vallon and the busy north of Mahé

Beau Vallon sits about 8 km northwest of Victoria and is the most popular beach on Mahé. The strip of hotels, dive shops, and restaurants here all sit inside good Airtel coverage, so you can post from the sand and look up dinner spots without trouble.

The north of the island in general, including Glacis and Bel Ombre, stays well connected because most of the population and tourism is concentrated up here. If you are staying on this side, a smaller plan is plenty. The 1 GB for 7 days plan at $5.04 covers a relaxed beach week of maps, chat, and a few uploads.

04 The quiet south and the mountain interior

Head south past the airport toward Anse Royale, Takamaka, and the deep bays, and the signal starts to thin. Coverage is still there in the villages and along the main coast road, but it can drop in the steep valleys and on the high passes through Morne Seychellois National Park.

This is normal for a mountainous island, not a fault with your eSIM. Download your offline maps and any guides before you drive south. If you lose data on a hill, it usually comes back as you descend toward the next bay.

05 The Cat Cocos ferry to Praslin

Most island hoppers take the Cat Cocos catamaran from the Victoria jetty to Praslin, a trip of about one hour. Signal is strong as you leave Victoria and again as you near Praslin. In the open water in between, expect it to come and go.

Do not count on a stable connection mid crossing. Save your ferry ticket as a screenshot and download anything you want to read before you board. Once you reach Baie Sainte Anne on Praslin, your eSIM picks the network back up on its own.

06 Praslin: Côte d'Or, Anse Lazio, and the Vallée de Mai

Praslin is the second largest island and the base for two famous beaches, Côte d'Or and Anse Lazio. The main settled areas and the road between them have working Airtel 4G, so you stay reachable through most of a normal day here.

Anse Lazio sits at the far northwest tip, and signal there can be weaker than in town. The Vallée de Mai forest reserve, home of the coco de mer palm, is also patchy under the canopy. For a few days split between Praslin and a Praslin base, the 3 GB for 15 days plan at $13.44 is a good fit and leaves room for the rest of the trip.

07 La Digue, the slow island

La Digue is a short 15 minute ferry from Praslin and the most laid back of the three main islands. Most people get around by bicycle. Coverage is good in La Passe, the main village by the port, and around the popular beaches like Anse Source d'Argent.

Once you ride out to the wilder corners and granite coves, the signal can fade. That suits the island, honestly, since La Digue is the place to put the phone away. Keep enough data for maps and messages, and treat any drop as part of the slow pace rather than a problem to fix.

08 How much data to buy for your trip

For a short stay or a light user who mostly checks maps and messages, start small. The 1 GB for 1 days plan at $4.54 is handy for an arrival day, and the 1 GB for 7 days plan covers a quiet week.

Island hoppers and steady users who upload photos and use maps daily should look at 3 GB or 5 GB. The 3 GB for 30 days plan at $14.28 and the 5 GB for 30 days plan at $22.40 both stretch across a longer holiday. Heavy users who stream or work online while away will want the 10 GB for 30 days plan at $44.80. If you run low, you can buy another plan and keep going.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our Seychelles eSIM.

It connects to Airtel, one of the two main mobile networks in Seychelles. Airtel has the widest reach across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, including Victoria, Beau Vallon, and the main beaches, so you stay connected in the places most travelers visit.

It works on most phones from the last few years that support eSIM, including recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel models. Check your settings for an option to add an eSIM or a data plan. If your phone has it, you are good to go. The eSIM gives you data only, so use WhatsApp or another app for calls.
